From the supplier: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will drop its commission on individual health plans to $5 per application effective January 1, 1997. Agents currently receive 12% of premium for new policies and 6% for renewals. Anthem has lost roughly $7 million on the individual market in Kentucky. The company will also eliminate co-op advertising with agents and brokers effective January 1, 1997. Health insurers have been operating under a rate freeze in Kentucky since January 1996.
